The blaze occurred on May 20, 2024, causing catastrophic damage to the cherished buildings. Fortunately, no individuals or the brewery's Shire horses were harmed as they were out in the fields at the time.
This reopening signifies a triumphant return for the heart of the brewery's working heritage. The stables are crucial for safeguarding the unique tradition of Shire horse-drawn deliveries, a practice maintained since 1849. The newly restored facilities will ensure a first-class level of care for the horses.
A special event on February 14 will allow visitors a rare behind-the-scenes look at the brewery's traditions. Shire horses Balmoral, Brigadier, and Cromwell will greet guests, alongside their draymen. Proceeds from the horsebox bar will be donated to the Fire Fighters Charity.
