Tragedy struck Brentwood on Friday afternoon as a house fire claimed a woman's life. Emergency services were alerted to a significant blaze at a semi-detached property on Milton Road in Warley. More than fifty firefighters, equipped with breathing apparatus and an aerial ladder, worked diligently to extinguish the flames consuming the home.
Authorities confirmed that the woman tragically died at the scene. A man present in the property was taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. Fortunately, a second adjacent house that sustained fire damage did not result in any injuries to its occupants.
The cause of the fire, which occurred near Brentwood railway station, is currently under investigation and is being treated as non-suspicious by Essex Police. A police cordon remained in place around the property on Saturday, indicating ongoing investigations at the scene.
