A tragic incident occurred on Friday afternoon when a 5-year-old boy was found to be drowning in a backyard swimming pool. The event took place at a residence on Pine Nut Drive in Nottingham Township, Washington County.
First responders were dispatched to the scene around 2:40 p.m. Upon their arrival, family members had already removed the child from the in-ground pool. Emergency personnel immediately began performing CPR, continuing resuscitation efforts for a full hour.
Despite extensive efforts at the home and en route to the hospital in an ambulance, the boy's condition remained critical. He was subsequently airlifted to a hospital in Pittsburgh for further medical attention.
Pennsylvania State Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the drowning. Authorities have not released further details, but indicated that the incident may have occurred during a family party.
