A Vietnam Airlines Boeing 787, en route to Hanoi, returned to Munich Airport on Sunday after experiencing critical alerts shortly after takeoff. The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) confirmed that warnings for a tail strike on the runway and low tire pressure were activated. The aircraft circled for more than two hours to safely burn off fuel before returning to the German airport.
All 271 passengers and 16 crew members on board the flight were reported to be safe. However, the aircraft was unable to taxi under its own power after landing, leading to disruptions at Munich Airport's north runway. German authorities are leading the investigation into the incident, with the CAAV offering its full cooperation.
Vietnam Airlines has arranged alternative flights and provided accommodation and meals for the affected passengers awaiting new travel arrangements. The incident is currently under investigation by German authorities, with assistance from Vietnam's accident investigation council.
