- Man missing since July 4 while traveling from Mumbai to Solapur.

The body of Chandrakant Chavhan, a 55-year-old resident of Nalasopara, was recovered on Tuesday evening near Monkey Hill. The retrieval took place on the Lonavala-Karjat railway section, following a challenging 9 km trek by volunteers from the Help Foundation NGO. This arduous rescue effort occurred despite inclement weather and heavy rainfall.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Khopoli police inspector Sachin Hire. Rescue team members were equipped with essential safety gear due to the body's decomposed state and the high-risk location, which is prone to landslides and falling boulders. Chavhan's family members accompanied the rescuers, reaching the site and waiting for the body's recovery.
Inspector Hire stated that Chavhan was last seen on the night of July 4, traveling from Mumbai to Solapur around 2:30 am. He went missing during this journey, and his family had not received any updates thereafter. A missing person complaint had been filed with the police prior to the discovery of his body.
