A devastating collision between an SUV and a dumper truck near the Lucknow-Unnao border resulted in the death of Happy Rajput, a 26-year-old Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) functionary. The accident, which occurred on Monday morning within the Asoha Police Station's jurisdiction, also left two of Rajput's companions critically injured. The SUV was severely damaged, trapping its occupants.
Rajput, who was traveling with seven companions to attend a reception for BJP state president Pankaj Chaudhary and a subsequent pilgrimage to Ayodhya, was declared dead upon arrival at the PGI Trauma Centre. His family was preparing for his engagement on February 8 and his wedding on April 26, a joyous occasion now overshadowed by profound grief following the loss of their only surviving son.
Preliminary investigations by the police suggest excessive speed and reckless driving by the dumper truck driver, who abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. Authorities have impounded the truck and initiated a search for the driver. The PGI police have handed over Rajput's body to his family after a post-mortem examination.
