Summary
- Woman sustained over 80 stitches from a brutal dog attack.
- Severe facial injuries cause anxiety about her child recognizing her.
- Dog owner faces negligence charges after owner released pet off-leash.

A terrifying dog attack on January 26th has profoundly impacted Shalini Kumari Dubey, a 31-year-old Bengaluru resident and mother. While on her morning walk, she was allegedly attacked by a neighbor's Rottweiler, which was reportedly unleashed and unmuzzled. The assault resulted in more than 80 stitches across her face, throat, and head, with one deep wound critically close to her airway.
Shalini survived the ordeal after nearly eight hours of surgery. However, the physical scars are accompanied by significant psychological distress. She experiences flashbacks and anxiety, compounded by the worry that her 17-month-old child may not recognize her altered appearance. The dog's owner has been charged with negligence, following a police complaint filed by the hospital.
Neighbors have indicated that the dog had exhibited aggressive behavior previously, including an alleged attack on a delivery executive. Shalini's husband emphasized that the incident highlights irresponsible pet ownership rather than a conflict between humans and animals, stating his wife's life has been irrevocably changed.
