Four individuals have died and eleven others are reported missing after a cruise boat operated by the state-run tourism department capsized in Jabalpur's Bargi Dam on Thursday evening. The incident occurred near Khamariya Island, approximately 30 km from Jabalpur city.
Approximately 30 tourists were on board the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board vessel when it sank amidst strong winds and a storm. While about 15 individuals were able to swim to safety, a search is ongoing for the missing. Authorities have dispatched a team from the Special Disaster Emergency Response Force and police to the site.
The dam, situated on the Narmada River, is one of 30 such structures. Rescue operations are actively continuing to locate the eleven individuals who are still unaccounted for, with additional assistance being mobilized to the location.
