A 19-year-old employee, Zion Branch, died after a car crashed into the bakery's entrance. The Harris County Sheriff's Office reported that the 77-year-old driver was attempting to park when his foot slipped from the brake pedal to the accelerator, causing his vehicle to strike the building.
Branch, who had recently graduated high school and was saving for college, was found without signs of life at the scene due to her injuries. The driver remained at the scene and showed no signs of intoxication. A customer also sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital. The sheriff's office has stated that its vehicular crimes division is investigating the incident.
