- Family is fundraising $100,000 for his recovery.

An Australian family is urgently seeking $100,000 to cover the extensive medical expenses for Daniel Rapa, 40, who sustained severe injuries in a motorbike accident in Bohol, Philippines.
Mr. Rapa was riding home in February when he fell into an unmarked excavation site. He suffered multiple head lacerations and a spinal cord contusion, resulting in significant weakness in his legs and loss of finger movement.
Due to the absence of a specialist spinal surgeon in Bohol, he was transferred to Cebu for complex spinal decompression surgery. This involved removing a damaged C4 disc and C5 vertebra, replaced with a hip bone graft.
Following the surgery, Mr. Rapa developed pneumonia, requiring high-strength intravenous antibiotics. He is currently undergoing daily rehabilitation from his hospital bed, with the immediate goal of sitting up and transferring to a wheelchair.
The long-term aim is to bring him back to Australia for specialized spinal rehabilitation, offering the best chance for him to walk again. His mother has initiated a GoFundMe to help cover the overwhelming medical and recovery costs for the father of four young boys.
