An Indian Army Major, 30-year-old Hamza Arif, lost his life following a severe road accident near Jaisalmer Military Station in Rajasthan. The incident occurred late on Thursday night when the SUV he was driving struck a camel that suddenly appeared on the road.
The collision caused the vehicle to overturn multiple times and skid for nearly 100 meters. Major Arif, who had recently married, sustained critical injuries and succumbed to them during treatment at the Army Military Hospital. The camel also died at the scene.
Two other officers, Lieutenant Abhinav Rathore and Lieutenant Ayushman Gusain, were injured and are currently receiving treatment at the same hospital. Their conditions have not been officially disclosed. The accident site, located about six kilometers from Jaisalmer's district headquarters, is near the War Museum.
This stretch of road has a history of tragic incidents, having been the site of a fatal bus fire nearly a year prior that claimed 29 lives. The Jaisalmer Military Station is reportedly in a state of gloom following the loss of Major Arif.
