Anson County residents are currently under a comprehensive boil water advisory. This advisory, in effect as of Wednesday, impacts the entire county. Daily distribution of bottled water continues at local fire departments between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m.
To date, more than 200 pallets of water bottles have been supplied to Anson County. Water sampling began on Tuesday, with a local lab conducting tests. The county has implemented a thorough testing plan with support from various state entities, including NC Emergency Management and the Department of Environmental Quality.
Crews from Charlotte Water, Union County, and the city of Monroe are actively involved in flushing and testing the water system. The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is expediting results from some samples sent to Charlotte Water, aiming for an 18-hour turnaround. Officials plan two rounds of testing, with a potential lifting of the advisory by Friday, contingent on successful results.
