Firefighters are responding to a scrapyard fire for the second time in approximately a year at the J Davidson site in Altrincham, Greater Manchester. The fire, which began around 14:40 GMT, sent smoke plumes visible above the location. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.
This incident follows a significant fire at the same scrapyard in March of the previous year, which involved numerous vehicles. Local councillor Ulrich Savary expressed concern, noting it is the second time residents have had to endure a fire at the site within a 12-month period. He is urging Trafford Council to engage with the business owners.
The scrapyard is situated adjacent to the Altrincham Retail Park. The firm and the council have been approached for comment. A previous incident in September saw a fatality at the scrapyard, leading to an investigation by the Health and Safety Executive.
