Alligator Attacks: Boy Loses Hand, Woman Dies

In two separate incidents last month, Florida's wildlife posed a deadly threat. An 11-year-old boy from Pennsylvania is now recovering at home after losing his hand in an alligator attack. The attack occurred at Nelson Fish Camp in Marion County, north of Orlando. His father heroically attempted to pry open the alligator's jaws, but the reptile's movements resulted in the amputation of the boy's hand. An FWC officer subsequently killed the 9-foot alligator involved.
Tragically, the day following the boy's attack, another life was lost to an alligator. Brittany Clark, 31, of Orlando, died after being attacked while swimming in a river. She sustained severe bites to both arms, one of which was severed. Her boyfriend's desperate 911 call detailed the fight to save her life and the critical blood loss she experienced. Despite rapid efforts by first responders, Clark succumbed to her injuries on the way to the hospital.
