Cold Lake Danger: Police Warn Youth Off Albert Village Lake

Leicestershire Police are urging caution following reports of young people engaging in activities at Albert Village Lake. Officers highlighted the extreme dangers associated with the lake, describing it as very cold, deep, and unpredictable, despite its calm appearance.

This warning follows a spell of hot weather that led to multiple fatalities at open water locations throughout the UK. Police stressed that playing near the lake is not harmless but extremely dangerous, putting lives at serious risk. They highlighted the immediate and potentially fatal effects of cold water shock, which can cause a sudden loss of breathing and movement control, even on warm days.
