In Alandi, a harrowing incident saw a six-year-old girl, Pari Dnyaneshwar Udamale, attacked by stray dogs while playing in the vegetable market area. She sustained serious injuries to her leg and was treated at Alandi rural hospital.
On the same day, 11 other residents, including Avdhut Kole and Akash Hatkar, also reported dog bites and received vaccinations. Medical staff confirmed the severity of the girl's wounds and administered necessary treatment.
Residents are raising alarms about the escalating stray dog population, urging the Alandi municipal council to bolster sterilization efforts and control measures. Concerns have been amplified by a recent fatal dog attack in the nearby Chakan area on March 17.
Madhav Khandekar, Alandi Municipal Council CEO, acknowledged that 12 people sought treatment and confirmed that vaccination and sterilization drives are now a priority, with intensified action planned.
