Two women were killed and 31 people were injured after a passenger bus fell into a gorge in Rajasthan's Ajmer district on Sunday, April 14, 2026. The incident occurred near Pushkar when the bus, en route from Ajmer to a village for a social function, lost control in the Pushkar ghati area and plunged into a deep gorge.
Local residents quickly responded, using makeshift ropes fashioned from clothing to pull the injured passengers from the gorge. All those injured were initially transported to a government hospital in Pushkar and subsequently referred to Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) Hospital in Ajmer for further treatment. As of the report, 30 patients were receiving care, with one having been discharged.
The deceased have been identified as Pooja, aged 28, and Vimla Devi, aged 50. The accident caused significant disruption to traffic in the Pushkar Ghati area, leading to a considerable traffic jam. Rescue operations were coordinated by SDRF, Civil Defence, and local police, ensuring a comprehensive effort to assist those affected.
