Air India Crash: Year On, Families Still Seek Answers

Friday marked one year since the tragic Air India Boeing crash that killed 260 people in Ahmedabad, India. Families of the victims gathered at the site to commemorate the anniversary, expressing continued frustration as they await definitive answers regarding the cause of the disaster. The plane, an Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner en route to London Gatwick, crashed into a residential area near the airport shortly after takeoff.

Indian authorities are anticipated to issue an interim report in the coming days, as a final report has been delayed to allow for further analysis of the aircraft's engines. This delay has intensified the grief and uncertainty for the victims' relatives. The preliminary report from India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau had suggested the fuel supply to the engines was cut off moments before the crash, raising questions about pilot error or deliberate action.

Under international aviation rules, a final report is ideally issued within a year of an accident, with interim statements due on anniversaries if investigations are ongoing.
