Youths Critically Hurt in Crash with Actor's Car

Two youngsters, identified as Sooraj and Nidev, suffered critical injuries in a road accident late Thursday evening. Their motorcycle collided with a car purportedly driven by Malayalam film actor Maniyanpilla Raju. The incident took place around 9:30 PM on the Vellayambalam-Vazhuthakkad road in Thiruvananthapuram, in front of the Trivandrum Club.
Museum police confirmed that Raju was behind the wheel of the car. It is alleged that Raju did not stop at the scene after the collision. Passersby rushed the injured youths to a hospital, where they were treated for multiple fractures. A case has been filed against the car's driver.
Raju later appeared at the Museum police station on Friday morning, stating a motorcycle hit his car. He cited health reasons, including being a cancer patient and having recently been diagnosed with chikungunya, as his cause for leaving the scene. He mentioned arranging an ambulance and stated he would surrender the vehicle.
