Three young brothers tragically drowned on Monday afternoon after falling through the ice of a pond in Bonham, Texas. The boys, identified locally as 9-year-old EJ, 8-year-old Kaleb, and 6-year-old Howard, were playing on the frozen water when the ice broke beneath them.
Bonham Fire Department divers rescued the children and administered CPR at the scene. They were subsequently transported to TMC Bonham Hospital, where all three were pronounced deceased. The incident occurred amidst a severe winter storm that brought ice and snow across Texas.
Superintendent Dr. Lance Hamlin of Bonham Independent School District confirmed the deaths of three elementary school students, expressing the district's devastation and commitment to supporting the family. A GoFundMe campaign has been initiated by a family member to help the children's 33-year-old mother with funeral costs, having already raised over $2,800.
