A devastating incident on Monday night in the Gajapati Nagar area resulted in the deaths of three people and serious injuries to three others. A high-speed electric vehicle lost control, hitting several two-wheelers and an auto-rickshaw before plowing into a roadside stall where patrons were enjoying tea.
Two victims, Jeyrom Ekka and Santosh Behera, died at the scene on Monday night. Laxmidhar Tudu tragically passed away on Tuesday morning while receiving medical treatment. The driver, identified as Anil Kumar Gouda, has surrendered and reportedly told police that a severe coughing fit, possibly induced by cough medicine, caused him to lose control of the EV.
Authorities have confirmed that an initial breathalyzer test showed zero alcohol content for the driver. An thorough investigation is currently underway to determine the precise cause and circumstances surrounding this fatal accident. All available evidence is being examined.
