9 Jul
Summary
- 21 workers died after a landslide trapped 33 at a forestry farm.
- Five workers were rescued uninjured, seven others sustained minor injuries.
- A 30 million yuan allocation supports disaster response and risk assessment.

A devastating landslide in Tanchang county, Gansu province, has concluded search and rescue operations with 21 confirmed deaths. The incident occurred Tuesday morning at a local forestry farm, trapping 33 workers who were passing through the area.
Rescuers successfully extracted five individuals unharmed, while seven others sustained minor injuries and are receiving stable medical treatment. Geological experts assessed the landslide, measuring approximately 130 meters long and 5,400 square meters, triggered by steep terrain and erosion.
Despite the conclusion of rescue efforts, experts caution that the landslide mass remains unstable, posing a risk of secondary slides. Risk-control zones have been established, ensuring no residents are within the immediate danger area. Over 700 personnel and extensive equipment were deployed.
In response to the disaster, China's Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Emergency Management jointly allocated 30 million yuan to aid in search and rescue, evacuation, and further geological disaster response in Gansu.
