A tragic multi-vehicle crash on Hopkins Road in Truganina has claimed the life of a 17-year-old boy and left six others injured. The incident unfolded around 9:15 PM on Thursday when a blue Honda CRV, carrying five teenage males, collided with two other vehicles. Authorities believe the driver of the Honda may have misjudged an overtaking attempt, leading to the devastating impact.
The 17-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. Three other teenage occupants of the Honda were rushed to hospital with serious injuries. The 18-year-old driver of the Honda sustained minor injuries. Additionally, the drivers and a passenger from the other two vehicles involved were also hospitalized with minor injuries.
Witnesses described the Honda rolling over and coming to rest in a ditch near where it impacted another car. The collision occurred approximately 22 kilometers west of Melbourne's city center, highlighting a significant incident in the local area that has deeply affected the community.
