On August 6, 2025, the Uttarakhand health department sprang into action following the devastating cloudburst that struck the Dharali region of Uttarkashi district. The health department has taken comprehensive measures to address the crisis. Additional medical teams will soon join the relief operations, and hospital systems have been strengthened to handle the influx of patients. Health Secretary Dr. R. To address the mental health needs of the disaster victims, a special team of three psychiatrists has been deployed in the Dharali region. This team will visit relief camps to provide counseling and support. The 108 ambulance service has also been activated 24/7 to ensure timely transportation of patients to hospitals.
The health secretary has personally visited Doon Hospital and Coronation District Hospital in Dehradun to assess the preparedness. He has instructed the hospital administration to ensure that no injured or needy person is deprived of medical care. Beds have been reserved in Doon, Coronation, and AIIMS Rishikesh hospitals to cater to the victims and critically injured patients.
