On August 19, 2025, a tragic bus accident took place in Jatwal, Jammu and Kashmir, claiming the life of one pilgrim and injuring several others. The bus, carrying pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh to the holy site of Katra, suffered a tyre burst, causing the vehicle to skid off the highway near a small bridge.
The deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Iqbal Singh, a resident of Amroha. A rescue operation was immediately launched, and the injured passengers were shifted to the hospital in Samba. Seven of them were later admitted to AIIMS Vijaypur for further treatment.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has expressed his condolences and assured assistance to the injured. The accident has left the local community in shock, and authorities are investigating the incident to determine the exact cause and ensure such tragedies are prevented in the future.
