On the morning of July 30th, a tragic accident occurred near the Nonagarh check post on the Lakhisarai-Jamui border, claiming the lives of three engineering students. The victims, all third-semester students from a private engineering college, were travelling home from their hostel in an auto-rickshaw when the vehicle collided with a stationary truck parked by the roadside.
The deceased students have been identified as Pankaj Kumar and Saroj Kumar from Samastipur, and Sahil Kumar from Chandi in Nalanda district. They were aged between 19 and 22 years old. Two other students, Ankit Gupta and Ajit Yadav from Siwan district, sustained serious injuries in the accident, with Ankit's condition being critical.
According to the college principal, the group of six students had left for home early that morning following their third-semester exams. The auto-rickshaw driver fled the scene after the collision, and a manhunt is currently underway to trace him. Police teams from Tetarhat and Jamui rushed to the spot and transported the injured students to the hospital, but the three victims succumbed to their injuries.
Sahil Kumar, the only son in his family, is survived by two sisters. His parents, a farmer father and an anganwadi worker mother, were devastated upon hearing the tragic news. The college has informed the families of the deceased students and is providing all necessary support during this difficult time.
