Speeding Biker Under Influence Causes Deadly Flyover Accident

On the early morning of August 19th, 2025, a tragic accident occurred on the Panjagutta flyover in Hyderabad, resulting in the deaths of two construction workers. According to the police investigation, the incident took place around 12:55 AM when the three victims were traveling from Begumpet towards Panjagutta on a motorcycle.
The rider, identified as Laxminarayana, 30, allegedly lost control of the vehicle due to excessive speed on a curve of the flyover. The bike crashed into the left side wall, causing the three men to fall from the elevated structure onto the road below near the Y2K hotel, close to the Panjagutta traffic police station.
Tragically, Bharat, 28, was declared dead on arrival at the Osmania General Hospital, while Laxminarayana, 30, succumbed to his injuries at 8:26 AM during treatment. Their friend, Venu, 28, suffered fractures to his right leg and left hand, but his condition is reported to be stable as he continues to receive medical care.
In a statement to the police, Venu revealed that the trio had purchased and consumed liquor at a construction site in Balamrai the previous night before setting out on the ill-fated journey. The blood sample of Laxminarayana, the rider, has been collected for analysis to confirm the presence of alcohol.
The Panjagutta police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicle Act. The bodies of the deceased have been handed over to their families after the post-mortem examination.
