In a heartbreaking incident, a physical education teacher named Gangavva Bellary, 38, passed away on Sunday after sustaining severe injuries in a cylinder explosion. The tragic event occurred earlier this week, on Wednesday, when a gas leak caused a devastating explosion in Gangavva's home in Hubballi, India.
The explosion left Gangavva with 80% burns, and she succumbed to her injuries around 12:20 pm on Sunday. Four other members of Gangavva's family were also seriously injured in the incident and are currently receiving treatment at the KMC-RI hospital.
Gangavva's husband, Mahantesh Bellary, who is also a physical education teacher, and their two children, Manoranjan and Karunya, were among the injured. According to the hospital's plastic surgery department head, Dr. Ravindra Yelagar, the family members are now out of danger and responding well to the treatment.
The tragic loss of Gangavva, a beloved educator, has left her family and community in mourning. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safety measures and the need for vigilance when it comes to handling household appliances and gas connections.
