Jhansi on High Alert as Yamuna River Floods

In the past few days, the Jhansi district has been facing a flood-like situation due to the rising water levels of the Yamuna River. As of Tuesday noon, the water level at the Kalpi center was measured at 106.370 meters, nearing the official warning level of 107 meters and the danger level of 108 meters.
The district administration has responded swiftly to the situation. Flood posts have been made operational, and boats have been deployed in the affected regions to assist the residents. The SP Durgesh Kumar and additional district magistrate Sanjay Kumar have conducted on-site inspections to assess the situation and issue necessary instructions to the concerned officials.
So far, around 500 residents in Kalpi tehsil have been impacted by waterlogging on access roads leading to the villages of Padri and Raidadiwara. However, there have been no reported human or animal casualties. The administration is currently conducting a survey to evaluate the extent of crop and house damage, with the aim of providing prompt relief to the affected individuals.

The flood management efforts include the deployment of 10 small and 6 large boats, as well as the activation of flood posts in all riverbank villages. These posts are ensuring the distribution of essential supplies, such as food, drinking water, and provisions for livestock, as well as the provision of health services and animal vaccinations.
The sub-district magistrates, along with teams from various departments, including revenue, Panchayat Raj, health, animal husbandry, and police, are maintaining a constant presence in the flood-affected regions to monitor the situation and provide necessary support to the residents.
