FireAid Raises $100M for LA Wildfire Relief, Addresses Misinformation
27 Jul
Summary
- FireAid raised $100 million for LA wildfire relief efforts
- Funds have been distributed in two rounds, with $75 million disbursed so far
- FireAid partners with nonprofits to directly assist affected residents

In January, the FireAid benefit concert raised $100 million to support Los Angeles wildfire relief efforts. The star-studded event, which was livestreamed and drew over 50 million viewers, featured performances by artists like Green Day, Katy Perry, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Since then, FireAid has been actively distributing the funds. In February, they reported their first disbursement of approximately $50 million, followed by a second round of $25 million grants in June. Organizers say the remaining $25 million is expected to be distributed by the end of 2025.
To ensure transparency, FireAid is partnering with local nonprofits that can directly reach those in need of food, housing, and other assistance. Each recipient organization is required to report on how the funds are being used. The year-end results will be audited by KPMG.
Addressing recent misinformation, FireAid emphasized that the Los Angeles Times has verified their grants and determined the funds have been an "urgent lifeline" for wildfire survivors. The organization remains committed to delivering the much-needed aid to as many people as possible in the region.
