18 Aug
Summary
- Yamuna river water levels rising in Faridabad
- Over a dozen villages likely to be affected
- Officials ordered to remain alert and prepare for rescue

As of August 19, 2025, the Faridabad district administration is on 24x7 alert due to the rising water levels of the Yamuna river. Faridabad District Commissioner Vikram Singh held a meeting with concerned officials on the same day, instructing them to remain vigilant and ensure all necessary preparations to deal with any adverse situation.
Singh noted that over a dozen villages, including Mohana, Latipur, and Manjhauli, situated in the Yamuna area, are likely to be affected. He directed the sub-divisional magistrate, tehsildar, naib tehsildar, and other officers at the panchayat level to work in alert mode for 24 hours and closely monitor the situation in these villages.
According to the commissioner, on the night of August 19th, 60,000 cusecs of water are expected to be released from the Okhla Barrage, and one lakh cusecs from the Hathnikund Barrage, which could lead to water entering the low-lying areas near the Yamuna. Singh has called on officials to increase vigilance in sensitive areas and be fully prepared for relief and rescue operations.
In view of the possibility of a flood-like situation, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Cadet Corps (NCC), and volunteers have been ordered to remain on alert. The SDRF has already been deployed in Basantpur village.
