Cloudburst Chaos in Jammu: Floods Disrupt Transport and Connectivity
28 Aug
Summary
- Cloudburst triggers flash floods and landslides in Jammu
- Critical infrastructure like rail, air, and digital connectivity disrupted
- Several video productions put on pause due to the disaster

On August 25th, 2025, a cloudburst in Jammu's Doda town triggered a series of devastating flash floods and landslides in the region. The heavy rainfall has led to widespread devastation, with critical infrastructure such as rail, air transport, and digital connectivity with the rest of the country coming to a grinding halt.
With no way in or out of Jammu, several video productions have been put on pause. Irfan Ahmed Dar, a local light technician, was on his way to Jammu for a shoot but found himself stuck in Srinagar after a section of a bridge connecting Jammu to other cities collapsed. The government, with the help of the Armed Forces, is working to provide support, but progress is slow due to the flooding and disrupted telephone lines.
The situation has also affected actors, with Iqbal Khan unable to reach his parents in Srinagar. "My parents are stuck in Srinagar; I haven't been able to get in touch with them since morning. While there's no rain in Srinagar like there is in Jammu, networks are completely blocked and there is no internet," he shares.

Aly Goni, another actor who recently returned from the region, describes the situation as "challenging, with waterlogging, landslides, and transport disruptions." Though his mother is with him in Mumbai, his father and other relatives are still in Jammu, and he was eventually able to speak to his dad, who confirmed they are all safe.
