5 Sep
Summary
- Traffic constable and woman engaged in heated altercation
- Duty constable intervened, leading to confrontation between the two policemen
- Police commissioner suspended both constables for negligence

On the early morning of September 3rd, 2025, a traffic constable and a woman were engaged in a heated altercation on a public road in Vijayawada's Ajit Singh Nagar. The situation escalated when another duty constable, Koteshwara Rao, attempted to intervene and question why they were fighting in the middle of the road.
The traffic constable, Srinivas Naik, reportedly identified himself and claimed the woman was his relative. Koteshwara Rao then left the scene, but the duo soon resumed their quarrel near the Rythu Bazaar. Noticing the renewed altercation, Koteshwara Rao again tried to intervene, leading to a heated exchange between him and Naik.
When Koteshwara Rao attempted to take Srinivas Naik to the police station, the woman allegedly grabbed the duty constable's shirt and physically assaulted him. The scuffle drew public attention, and videos of the incident quickly circulated on social media platforms.
Taking serious note of the misconduct and negligence, Vijayawada Police Commissioner S V Rajasekhar Babu has now suspended both Srinivas Naik and Koteshwara Rao pending further inquiry. An internal investigation is underway to ascertain the complete details of the incident and the roles of those involved.
