US-Based Gangster Accused in Ludhiana Petrol Bomb Attack
23 Jul
Summary
- Petrol bomb attack and shooting outside property dealer's home
- Linked to longstanding land dispute, involving US-based gangster
- 6 arrested, 12 booked including gangster Kunwarveer Deo

Last month, on the night of July 9th, a violent incident unfolded in Baddowal village, Ludhiana, India. Four masked men in a stolen car threw a petrol bomb at the house of Yadwinder Singh, a local property dealer, and fired multiple rounds before fleeing the scene. The attackers even recorded the assault on their mobile phones.
The case has since expanded into a wider conspiracy involving transnational gang connections. Police have arrested six men and booked 12 others, including Kunwarveer Deo, a gangster originally from Bahadurke village in Ludhiana who is now based in the US. Authorities allege that Deo was contacted by Dildar Singh, a local man involved in a property dispute with the victim, and orchestrated the attack.
Deo is said to have hired four shooters from Patiala to carry out the assault. The shooters, traveling in the stolen car, executed the bombing and firing, then abandoned the vehicle at a petrol station. Two more accused, Dhruv Thakur and Jazzy of Ludhiana, are believed to have followed in a Scorpio and picked up the shooters after the attack. The group then sought shelter with acquaintances in Moga and Ferozepur districts.
Investigations are ongoing, and authorities expect to make further arrests soon. While the motive appears rooted in a property dispute, police have not ruled out a contract element and are exploring links to organized crime.
