On August 27, 2025, authorities in Delhi arrested three men, Rohit Bhullar, Arshdeep Singh, and Gurjinder Singh, for their involvement in an extortion plot targeting a local jeweler.
The incident came to light on August 12, when the director of Giri Zever Mahal in Kalyanpuri received a WhatsApp call demanding ₹25 lakh in the name of the Bishnoi gang, along with life threats if he failed to comply. An FIR was promptly registered, and a police investigation was launched.
Through their investigation, the police were able to trace and apprehend Bhullar and Arshdeep from Punjab. The mobile phone and WhatsApp account used for the extortion were recovered as evidence. During interrogation, Arshdeep revealed that they had acted on the instructions of a man named Sheru, originally from Gurdaspur but now residing in Bahrain.
Further investigation led the authorities to Gurjinder Singh, who was also arrested from Punjab. Gagan confessed that he had been in contact with Arshdeep through social media since April 2025 and was later lured into joining the extortion gang, with the promise of quick money.
The trio, along with the Bahrain-based Sheru, allegedly conspired to target the jeweler. Gurjinder, who has a criminal record and is involved in three prior cases, was tasked with arranging vehicles to follow the victim.
The police are now working to identify any other associates involved in the case and investigate the possible role of the Bishnoi gang's network. The investigation is ongoing, and the authorities are determined to bring the perpetrators to justice.
