On July 6, a shocking incident unfolded in Mumbai when a 27-year-old man allegedly killed his elder brother over a monetary dispute. The Parksite police initially registered the case as an accidental death, but a subsequent investigation revealed the true nature of the incident.
According to the police, they received information from the Rajawadi Hospital on July 6 about a man who had died. The deceased was identified as Rahul Aaldar. The police recorded statements from Aaldar's father and younger brother, Akash, who claimed that he had gone out while his brother was asleep, and later received a call informing him that Aaldar was lying unconscious.
However, on July 23, the police received the post-mortem and forensic reports, which indicated strangulation marks on Aaldar's neck and contusions on his body. Prompted by this new evidence, the police then registered a murder case and questioned Akash and his father again.
During the interrogation, Akash admitted that he had assaulted his brother over a monetary dispute. The police learned that Aaldar was addicted to alcohol and had been admitted to a de-addiction center in May, only to return home on June 12.
The police subsequently arrested Akash and produced him before a court, where he was remanded in police custody until July 31.
