Retired CRPF Officer Gunned Down in Haryana Home Invasion
7 Aug
Summary
- Two unidentified assailants shot and killed a retired CRPF sub-inspector
- Attack occurred late at night in the victim's home in Rewari, Haryana
- Victim's son had received recent death threats, possible motive

On the night of August 5th, 2025, a retired CRPF sub-inspector named Nihal Singh was tragically gunned down in his own home in Zainabad village, Rewari district of Haryana. According to the police, two unidentified assailants arrived on a motorcycle around 2 AM and knocked on Nihal's door.
As the 65-year-old Nihal opened the door, the attackers pushed their way inside and opened fire, fatally shooting him. The suspects then fled through a rear door, suggesting they were familiar with the layout of the house. Nihal's brother, Ramchandra, believes the escape route indicates the attackers had prior knowledge of the home, potentially linking them to someone known to the family.
Nihal, who had suffered a paralysis attack in 2019, retired from the CRPF in March 2018. He came from a military background, with his elder brother being a retired Army officer and his younger brother having served in the BSF.
Investigators have registered a murder case based on a complaint filed by Nihal's son, Amit. Villagers suspect the attack may have been intended for Amit, who operates a service station nearby and had reportedly received death threats via WhatsApp calls over the past two months. However, the father became the victim in this tragic incident.
