On August 13, 2025, a 38-year-old pantry worker named Ajay Tiwari was abducted from his workplace in Gurgaon, India by two men, Praveen Rana and Aryan, who were demanding repayment of a ₹30,000 loan Tiwari had taken from Rana. Despite Tiwari having already repaid ₹15,000, Rana continued to pressure him for the remaining amount, leading to the abduction.
In a desperate attempt to escape, Tiwari jumped out of the moving car near the Bajghera police station underpass, sustaining fatal head injuries. The two accused left Tiwari at the scene, and he was initially admitted to Manipal Hospital before being transferred to Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi, where he was placed on a ventilator. Tragically, Tiwari passed away on August 16, 2025.
Police investigation revealed that Rana and Aryan had assaulted Tiwari in the car when he pleaded his inability to repay the remaining loan amount immediately. A video captured Tiwari's frantic warnings and screams before he leaped from the vehicle. Although the accused did not physically push him, their actions led to Tiwari's death, and they have been charged with kidnapping, assault, and culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
