Summary
- Sonam and boyfriend Raj Kushwaha killed Sonam's husband Raja Raghuvanshi
- Couple hired 3 contract killers to stage a robbery and eliminate Raja
- Chargesheet filed 3 months after the murder in Meghalaya

On May 11, 2025, Sonam Raghuvanshi married Raja Raghuvanshi, a 29-year-old businessman from Indore. Just nine days later, the newlywed couple traveled to Meghalaya for their honeymoon. However, their romantic getaway took a dark turn when Raja went missing.
Over three months later, on June 2, 2025, Raja's decomposed body was discovered in a gorge near the scenic Weisawdong Falls in Meghalaya. What began as a missing person's case quickly escalated into a sensational murder investigation.
The Meghalaya Police have now filed a 790-page chargesheet, concluding their probe into the chilling honeymoon killing. According to the chargesheet, Sonam, who was in a relationship with her accountant boyfriend Raj Kushwaha, had conspired to kill her husband even before the wedding. The couple allegedly hired three contract killers - Akash Rajput, Vishal Chauhan, and Anand Kurmi - for nearly Rs 20 lakh to stage a robbery and eliminate Raja during the honeymoon.
During a trek near Weisawdong Falls, the hired killers ambushed Raja, striking him twice on the head with a machete before throwing his body into the gorge. Sonam, who was present during the attack, allegedly called her mother after the crime, switched off both her and Raja's phones, and hurried back to Indore.
The chargesheet names all five accused - Sonam, Raj, and the three contract killers - under charges of murder, destruction of evidence, and criminal conspiracy. A supplementary chargesheet will also be filed against three more co-accused once additional forensic reports are received.
The trial is expected to begin soon, pushing this high-profile case into its next phase of legal proceedings.
