In a shocking turn of events, the Meghalaya Police have filed a 790-page chargesheet against Sonam Raghuvanshi, the wife of Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, as the main accused in his murder during their honeymoon in May 2025.
According to the police, Raja and Sonam had traveled to Shillong and Sohra in Meghalaya for their honeymoon on May 21, 2025. However, the couple went missing on May 26, and Raja's body was later recovered from a deep gorge at Arliang Riat Kunongrim, Umblai near Wei Sawdong on June 2.
The police investigation has revealed that Sonam was allegedly in a relationship with a man named Kushwaha, and together they conspired with three accomplices - Aakash Singh Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, and Aanand Kurmi - to eliminate Raja. The murder was executed at the gorge in Sonam's presence.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Meghalaya Police has submitted substantial material evidence and enclosures along with the chargesheet, which has been filed in the court of the judicial magistrate first class, Sohra sub-division. The five accused face charges under sections 103(1), 238(a), and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
Three more persons, Lokendra Tomar, Balla Ahirwar, and Shilom James, were earlier arrested for allegedly destroying evidence, and a supplementary chargesheet will be filed against them after additional forensic reports are received.
