Fraudsters Arrested for Cheating Woman of ₹14.40 Lakh in MBBS Seat Scam

In a case of fraud and deception, the Azad Maidan Police in Mumbai have arrested two individuals for cheating a woman of ₹14.40 lakh. The accused, identified as Krishna Mohan Vishnudatta Sharma and Enul Zainul Hasan, had allegedly lured the complainant's daughter with the promise of securing an MBBS admission through a special quota.
Between May 2022 and September 2023, the fraudsters collected the substantial sum of money from the victim. However, the promised admission never materialized. Realizing they had been duped, the complainant filed a case at the Azad Maidan Police Station under Sections 406 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code, pertaining to criminal breach of trust and cheating.
The investigation was later taken over by Crime Disclosure Officer S Po Ni Liladhar Patil, who, with the help of technical surveillance and a confidential informant, traced Sharma to Pune, where he was arrested on August 3, 2024. Based on Sharma's interrogation, Hasan was subsequently apprehended from his native village in Rampur on August 8.

Notably, the police have confirmed that a 100% recovery of the defrauded amount has been made from the accused. Both Sharma and Hasan have been remanded to police custody as the investigation continues.
