On July 19, 2025, the body of a 60-year-old man was discovered in the Ramkrishna Nagar area of Patna, the capital city of the Indian state of Bihar. The deceased was later identified as Shiv Bhajan Vishwakarma, a resident of the Kankarbagh locality.
According to the police, Vishwakarma was allegedly murdered by his elder son, Alok Nath, and his two grandsons over a long-standing land dispute. The incident occurred on July 18, when Alok invited his father to his home and a heated argument ensued, which escalated into a violent confrontation. In a fit of rage, Alok and his sons brutally attacked Vishwakarma with an iron rod, leading to his death.
In an attempt to hide the crime, the accused placed the body on a bike and disposed of it in a deserted area. However, the police were able to recover the bike and the weapon used in the murder. Alok Nath and his two sons have been arrested in connection with the case.
Vishwakarma had been living with his younger son and his family, as his wife had passed away earlier. The family was embroiled in a long-standing property dispute with the elder son, which ultimately culminated in the tragic murder of the elderly man.
