17 Aug
Summary
- Delhi Police Commissioner urges force to adopt self-reliance and use of technology
- Calls for healthy competition to build public trust and approachability
- Directs units to submit proposals on enhancing technology use within a month

On August 15, 2025, Delhi Police Commissioner S.B.K. Singh addressed the force during Independence Day celebrations, outlining his vision for the department's future. Singh emphasized the need for the Delhi Police to become more self-reliant, leverage technology, and foster a sense of healthy competition.
The police chief directed all units to work towards 'atmanirbharta' (self-reliance) and submit proposals within 15 days. The aim is to reduce the force's dependence on other units for specialized resources like commandos, bomb disposal squads, and wireless sets.
Singh also stressed the importance of enhancing the use of technology in various domains, from surveillance and cybercrime prevention to anti-drone capabilities and counterterrorism efforts. He has asked the technology-focused units to form committees, conduct studies, and present proposals within a month to further integrate technology into the Delhi Police's operations.
Additionally, the commissioner urged the force to cultivate a spirit of healthy competition, rather than jealousy, at both the individual and organizational levels. He believes this approach will help the Delhi Police units and districts develop a stronger sense of purpose and drive.
Expressing concern over the public's lack of trust in the police, despite their hard work, Singh advised the personnel to shift their mindset from a 'ruler's attitude' to a 'service-oriented approach.' He believes this change in attitude will make the public feel more comfortable approaching the police when in need.
