Last weekend, an Afghan citizen living in Nagpur, India was the victim of a violent assault. On the night of July 27th, 46-year-old Fahim Khan, a clothes trader residing in Bada Tajbagh Sartaj Colony, was visiting Yadav Nagar Sweeper Colony to purchase a used refrigerator with a friend.
As Fahim and his friend were leaving the area, they were approached by a 26-year-old local man named Ajay Chavan. Chavan allegedly accused Fahim of being a 'terrorist' and began assaulting him with a baton. Two other accused individuals, Rishi Tambe (around 20 years old) and a minor, also joined in the attack, with Chavan striking Fahim on the head two to three times with a cement block.
The assailants reportedly threatened to kill Fahim if he filed a complaint with the police. During the incident, the windshield of Fahim's car was also damaged by thrown stones. Yashodhara Nagar police have registered a case against the three accused, with the minor sent to juvenile custody and the other two in police custody until July 30th.
