UK's youngest female double murderer to stay in jail
24 Feb
Summary
- Lorraine Thorpe, Britain's youngest female double murderer, will remain imprisoned.
- The Parole Board cited her progress in custody for the decision.
- She may be transferred to an open jail facility for rehabilitation.

Lorraine Thorpe, convicted as Britain's youngest female double murderer, has been denied release by the Parole Board. Thorpe was just 15 years old in August 2009 when she committed the murders of her father and Rosalyn Hunt. She was subsequently convicted in 2010 and given a minimum 14-year prison sentence.
Now 31, Thorpe remains incarcerated and has spent her entire adult life in prison. The Parole Board's decision, released on Tuesday, stated that while Thorpe should not be released, a transfer to an open jail facility is a possibility. This would allow for her to be evaluated in a less secure environment.
The panel acknowledged Thorpe's general maturation and noted a significant reduction in her risk of violence, as she has not exhibited aggressive behavior for many years. Her reduced risk is attributed to her actions and progress while in custody. Thorpe will be eligible for future parole reviews.
