West London Mother Killed in Bed; Man Charged

A 24-year-old mother, Kirandeep Kaur, originally from India, was fatally stabbed in her west London home on Sunday. She was attacked in bed alongside her husband and infant. Her sister, Gursharan, expressed profound grief, stating Kaur was her "world" and a supportive figure who helped fund her studies.

Kaur had moved to the UK in September 2024 to study at Buckinghamshire New University, subsequently working at a grocery store. Her family, from Tarn Taran in Punjab, India, is devastated and has requested her body be returned for a funeral in their village. They last saw her when she left India in 2024.

Vigils have been held for Kaur by the Sikh community in the local area. Daniel Sean James, 46, has been charged with her murder, as well as attempted murder and possession of a blade. He appeared at the Old Bailey and is remanded in custody, with a plea hearing set for October 1.

The family hopes for justice and that such a tragedy will not befall another family. They are grateful for the support shown at the London vigils but urgently wish for Kaur's body to be repatriated for her rightful funeral in India.
