In Shahabpur village, Barabanki, a woman identified as Mamta, aged 30, was discovered murdered, just a day after she traveled from Gorakhpur to meet her alleged lover, Sandeep Yadav. Police have initiated a case against Sandeep and seven members of his family, with five individuals arrested on Thursday. Mamta, a resident of Gorakhpur, reportedly entered into a relationship with Sandeep, an engineer, two years prior. Despite both having married other people separately about six months ago, Mamta insisted on being with Sandeep.
The tragic incident unfolded on Monday night when Mamta arrived at Sandeep's residence. By early Tuesday morning, she was allegedly killed using a sharp weapon. Following the discovery, police awaited Mamta's family, who eventually lodged a complaint on Wednesday night. Abhishek Yadav, Mamta's brother, filed the FIR against Sandeep and his family members, including his parents and four sisters.
During initial interrogations, conflicting statements emerged. Sandeep implicated his parents and sisters in Mamta's death, while his sisters claimed their parents were responsible. Further investigations are underway as teams work to locate the absconding parents. The arrested individuals were presented in court on Thursday.
