A fatal shooting occurred at a Steak 'n Shake on Bellefontaine Road in St. Louis County on Wednesday, April 8. The victim, identified as 32-year-old Chauncia La'Shell Meekins, was working the drive-through window when an unknown driver fired a weapon through it.
Meekins' mother stated the argument was over onion rings and expressed her grief over her daughter's senseless death. Meekins had only been employed at the restaurant for three months. Her coworker was also shot but sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
The incident happened around 11:35 p.m. The suspect fled the scene and remains at large. St. Louis County Police are actively investigating the shooting and have released no further details regarding the suspect or their vehicle.
