Woman Charged in Fentanyl Death Investigation
6 Jul
Summary
- Woman faces fentanyl delivery charge in overdose death.
- She allegedly obtained fentanyl from Milwaukee for sale.
- Autopsy revealed fentanyl and methamphetamine toxicity.

Shelly L. Gregory, a 44-year-old Manitowoc resident, faces a felony charge for her alleged role in a February overdose death. Court documents filed on July 2 accuse Gregory of delivering fentanyl. Investigators suspect she acquired the drug in Milwaukee and subsequently sold it to another individual, identified in court documents as Summer C. Sprang (who prefers the name Braxton).
Sprang is also charged in connection with the death of an unidentified Manitowoc woman. The complaint states Sprang is accused of providing the drugs that led to the woman's fatal overdose. Sprang's initial hearing is scheduled for August 3. During the investigation, evidence of drug use, including burnt aluminum foil and methamphetamine, was found in the victim's bedroom.
The autopsy report definitively listed fentanyl and methamphetamine toxicity as the cause of death. Gregory, who appeared in court on July 6, could face up to 15 years in state prison if convicted of conspiracy to manufacture or deliver fentanyl. Her case is being prosecuted by District Attorney Jacalyn LaBre.
