The accused, Neeraj Tomar, reportedly stopped the woman and slashed her throat with a sharp weapon before inflicting self-harm. The pair were discovered bleeding by traffic personnel near Palasia Square.
Promptly alerted traffic police rushed the injured woman and the man to a private hospital. She is said to be out of danger and receiving treatment.
The woman, a resident of Chetan Nagar, had decided to approach the women's police station after an argument with Tomar the previous day. The two had known each other for approximately one year.
During the journey to the hospital, the victim pleaded for help, expressing concerns for her daughter who was at school. The traffic officer who assisted her reassured her and later informed her mother, who is traveling to Indore from Chhattisgarh.
The accused, an auto driver, had been living with the woman for a few months. Authorities have since facilitated contact with her daughter's school, and the child has been placed with a relative.
